Looking Ahead to Wedding Season: Are You Accessorised?
Thursday, 1 February 2018 | prettycool
February is the month of love, and all of those romantic Valentine's proposals sending young brides to be into a spin as to what they will wear on their big day. At PrettyCool, we understand that spring is a challenging time, since the weather is so changeable, and outdoor events can still be seriously chilly.
If you are getting married this spring, or you're heading off to a wedding in a cooler climate, knowing what to wear is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. Equally if you were lucky enough to receive a beautiful diamond ring this Valentine’s day, it’s time to find the right accessories for your engagement party.
Dressing to impress at spring weddings
Being invited to a spring wedding always raises a dilemma.
It's probably going to be cold outside, and it may well be cold inside, especially if it's a church wedding. You won't want to attend in a duffle coat and thermals, but clever accessorising can help keep the cold out.
A wool suit always looks the part at a winter or spring wedding, and accessories will lift the outfit, making it classy and trendy as well as feeling warm.
The place to start is with your headwear. Fascinators continue to be the most popular option for weddings because they’re varied, inexpensive and easy to wear. Fascinators really do suit everyone, and the sheer range of colours makes them ideal for brightening up a wedding outfit.
Striking jewel colours such as ruby, emerald and sapphire always look spectacular against spring scenery. We love the cobalt blue sinamay hairband hat fascinator, which evokes the blue skies and crisp mornings of March and April.
If you've never worn a fascinator before, don't worry about how to place it on your head. Many are either set on a band so it’s on the perfect angle as soon as you wear it. Others have a clip attached to the base, so you can easily slide the fascinator into the hair.
So now your headgear is sorted, you need something to keep that cool spring breeze at bay. Team your outfit with a large, sweeping scarf that can keep your neck and shoulders warm. If it's not as cold as you expected, you can wear your scarf with elegance over one shoulder.
Grey and silver shades are trending for wedding dress colours this year, so if you want to complement the bridal outfit without treading on any toes, the grey faux fur rose scarf is ideal. Again, it’s a fashionable hue, offers the warmth you need for a spring wedding, and is completely cruelty-free.
