Cheltenham Festival - Fascinators & Hats to Impress
Friday, 9 March 2018 | prettycool
The Cheltenham Festival including the Cheltenham Gold Cup is only a few days away. If the dates are not in your diary yet they are 13 Mar 2018 – 16 Mar 2018 with the Gold Cup being on the Friday.
As always a great event in the racing calendar and although there is no a dress code as such it is an ideal opportunity to push the boat out and dress to impress. Many hats and fascinators are worn at this meeting. Our fascinators and hats category is bursting at the seams with different colours, designs and budgets to suit all. As always the Cheltenham Races falls within the cooler months unlike other race meetings but we do have more simple fascinators and hats that would perhaps stand up to the weather and are e suitable for this race meeting. Enjoy your day!
Ascot, The Grand National, Epsom - Fascinators or Hats?
Thursday, 1 March 2018 | prettycool
As we are approaching the famous Grand National at Aintree and then of course the Epsom Derby and not forgetting the very famous Royal Ascot, the big decision is about to be made. Do I wear a Hat or a Fascinator? Of course there are other decisions to be made, your outfit of course, but we all know its all about the hat or fascinator. It can make or break your look.
The Grand National at Aintree - The Aintree Festival begins on Thursday 12th April, and will be taking place till the final race on Saturday 14th.
At Aintree and the Grand National its all about fashion as you can see from last years Ladies Day. Ladies Day will be on Ladies Day - Friday April 13th and unlike Ascot there are no rules as such just a reason to splash out and really go for it! The colours tipped to be big this year are cobalt blue or indigo blue (popular again this year) along with coral, taupe, orange and yellow and as always nude. The fascinators can be as wacky or elegant as you like. If the weather turns out to be a little unkind you could pick a fascinator with or a hat with a hairband which should stay securely in place. Alternately you could use extra grips or clips to hold it in place.
Whatever you decide to wear it is sure to be a brilliant day and hey you may even make it into the National Newspapers.
Royal Ascot - Ladies Day - 21 June 2018
Royal Ascot on the other hand does have a few extra rules, for example if you are going to be entering the Royal Enclosure at Ascot you will need to wear some sort of hat or headpiece and the head piece needs to have a base of 4" or more. All of the other enclosures you are able to wear a fascinator or hat of any description. Ladies Day is always an excuse to look amazing no matter what your budget.
Epsom Derby - Ladies Day - 1 June 2018
Epsom Ladies Day may find you competing for the title of 'Best Dressed Lady'. If you are going on Investec Ladies' Day in the Queen's Stand ladies are asked to wear a hat or fascinator as they are for the hospitality areas, if you are going to be spending the day in the Grandstand Enclosure you are not required to wear a hat or fascinator but why would you not want to, you can't win the 'Best Dressed Lady' without one. It may be a good idea to have a couple of fascinators just in case the weather isn't as you planned it and you may have to change your outfit at the last minute, an insurance fascinator. You're sure to wear it another year anyway, especially if you choose a classic colour and design.
Whatever race meeting you are lucky to go to this year, have an amazing day and if you choose to buy a fascinator or hat from Prettycool.co.uk we would love to see some photographs and even put them onto our blog just to show everyone how amazing they look.
Looking Ahead to Wedding Season: Are You Accessorised?
Thursday, 1 February 2018 | prettycool
February is the month of love, and all of those romantic Valentine's proposals sending young brides to be into a spin as to what they will wear on their big day. At PrettyCool, we understand that spring is a challenging time, since the weather is so changeable, and outdoor events can still be seriously chilly.
If you are getting married this spring, or you're heading off to a wedding in a cooler climate, knowing what to wear is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. Equally if you were lucky enough to receive a beautiful diamond ring this Valentine’s day, it’s time to find the right accessories for your engagement party.
Dressing to impress at spring weddings
Being invited to a spring wedding always raises a dilemma.
It's probably going to be cold outside, and it may well be cold inside, especially if it's a church wedding. You won't want to attend in a duffle coat and thermals, but clever accessorising can help keep the cold out.
A wool suit always looks the part at a winter or spring wedding, and accessories will lift the outfit, making it classy and trendy as well as feeling warm.
The place to start is with your headwear. Fascinators continue to be the most popular option for weddings because they’re varied, inexpensive and easy to wear. Fascinators really do suit everyone, and the sheer range of colours makes them ideal for brightening up a wedding outfit.
Striking jewel colours such as ruby, emerald and sapphire always look spectacular against spring scenery. We love the cobalt blue sinamay hairband hat fascinator, which evokes the blue skies and crisp mornings of March and April.
If you've never worn a fascinator before, don't worry about how to place it on your head. Many are either set on a band so it’s on the perfect angle as soon as you wear it. Others have a clip attached to the base, so you can easily slide the fascinator into the hair.
So now your headgear is sorted, you need something to keep that cool spring breeze at bay. Team your outfit with a large, sweeping scarf that can keep your neck and shoulders warm. If it's not as cold as you expected, you can wear your scarf with elegance over one shoulder.
Grey and silver shades are trending for wedding dress colours this year, so if you want to complement the bridal outfit without treading on any toes, the grey faux fur rose scarf is ideal. Again, it’s a fashionable hue, offers the warmth you need for a spring wedding, and is completely cruelty-free.
Fascinators for Weddings
Tuesday, 30 January 2018 | prettycool
We have been selling hats and fascinators for a long time now and know our collection is really well priced and has designs suitable for all ages and occasions. The most popular occasion would be for a wedding guest and the prices of our fascinators is not going to break the bank after all the expense of being a guest at a wedding.
Our fascinators have been divided into colours to make it easier for you to search for the correct shade. They include hairband fascinators, clip fascinators, comb fascinators and some that have both comb and hairband to give the versatility to choose how you wish to wear them.
Although we think fascinators for weddings are the most popular with Ladies Day events all through the year at Ascot, Epsom and many other race courses the increase of ladies completing their outfit with a hat or fascinator for events like these is ever increasing.
Ladies are becoming more and more adventurous in choosing the design of hat or fascinator and we are always adding new designs to meet their expectations and at the same time still keeping our prices low wherever possible.
Many of our hairband fascinators can be worn on either side of the head and some can be slid along the hairband to enable you to wear it wherever you wish. The versatility of a comb or a clip fascinator means you can wear it in any hairstyle including a side bun, a chignon, a french pleat and many other sophisticated and elegant styles that you prefer. The hairband fascinator is always a good choice if you are wearing your hair down and just want something easy to wear and they are also a good idea for someone with hair that is fine as a comb or a hair clip may slip out.
At Prettycool we do understand how difficult it is to match colours to your outfit which is why are returns policy is excellent and you are welcome to return the fascinator should it not be the right shade. Please see our Delivery & Returns for details. Many customers order two or three fascinators in different shades to try and find one that matches and return the ones that aren't quite right.
If you are lucky enough to be in the Royal Enclosure at Ascot you will need a fascinator or hat base that measures at least 4" in diameter. All of our descriptions include measurements to enable you to make an informed choice of size.
Whichever colour, design or fitting you choose we hope you enjoy your day and we know you will look amazing!
